"Church law" isn't really law at all. It's just kinda ... there, and they like to try and fool people into thinking it's law.  If the church has any actual political say and/or it's "laws" extend into government, then something is grievously wrong and it needs to be knocked down to size, and the people freed of their psychological and social bondage.  (This is not to say that people not be taught right from wrong.)

Thought for the day:

People are uncomfortable with the thought of someone needing to drink blood, so they come up with all kinds of other possible reasons that tell them in their own mind "that person doesn't really NEED to drink blood. They just think they do, or want to [for whatever reason]." It never CAN be that the person IS a vampire, for real. It always has to be something else. Example: "They do it for power". And if it can actually be proven to some extent that they don't do it for power, then it's "they do it for SYMBOLIC power", and they'll come up with all kinds of theories and reasons why that is so; all designed to make the other person more comfortable -- or to pigeonhole the vampire so the other person feels they are more in control of the situation/other person.
